WE NEED THE BULB! That is the main reason why we electrologists beg you to NOT pluck, wax, tweeze, sugar or wax.
I mean, you can do what you want… but remember every time you pluck a hair it takes approximately 13 weeks for that hair to grow again so we can treat it. So, it could add on appointments towards the end.
If you are ready to get into treatment to remove your extra hair, then you really have to stop yanking them out. We need the bulb to be there to treat the germ cells down in the bottom of the follicle. It just takes the entire process longer in the end if you keep plucking, sugaring or waxing while we are in process of removing your extra hair. I need the hairs and the bulb so I can MURDER THEM! 🙂
How does electrolysis destroy the hair bulb? (From the Wikipedia)
Galvanic electrolysis is a chemical process. The current produces a chemical reaction in the hair follicle eliminating the hair growth cells. Thermolysis (also called short-wave) produces heat. This modality heats and destroys the hair growth cells in the follicle.
Shaving and trimming is the best way to go while we are in the process of removing your hair. Shaving is not fun. I get it. But, it’s the best way and typically if you shave, I will have a hair I can treat within a couple of days, too.
